A Moment Apart pairs ODESZA’s electronic arrangements with a wide cast of singers. Naomi Wild fronts ‘Higher Ground’, Leon Bridges sings ‘Across the Room’, and Regina Spektor appears on ‘Just a Memory’. Each voice changes the character of the production around it, from bright, expansive hooks to more intimate passages.
The sixteen-track sequence starts with ‘Intro’ and the title track, then closes with RY X on ‘Corners of the Earth’. That framing gives the guest appearances a beginning and an ending, rather than leaving them as isolated singles. Counter Records released the album on 8 September 2017, with a double-LP edition.
