Cults returned as a duo for Offering, with Madeline Follin and Brian Oblivion building a brighter setting around their songs. The title track brings keyboards and layered vocals to the front, retaining the contrast between sweet melodies and unease that runs through their earlier records.

“I Took Your Picture” and “Right Words” continue that approach without relying on the same arrangement. The album leaves room for both direct pop writing and softer passages, with Follin's voice providing a steady point of focus as the textures change.
