Green Day produced Revolution Radio themselves, returning to a single album after the three-part ¡Uno!, ¡Dos! and ¡Tré! project. Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt and Tré Cool use familiar guitar, bass and drums to connect personal unease with observations about the surrounding political climate.

“Bang Bang” takes a fast, abrasive route, while “Still Breathing” turns toward endurance and survival. “Somewhere Now” begins more quietly before the full band enters. The changes in scale let the trio keep its melodic habits while avoiding one unbroken run of fast songs.
