Dream River

Dream River puts Bill Callahan’s measured baritone inside an ensemble recorded with Erik Wofford. Guitars, flute and percussion move gently around the words, making the music feel conversational even when its rhythms grow more involved.

“Small Plane” turns flying into an intimate scene of trust. “Summer Painter” takes a darker route, showing how much tension Callahan can create without raising his voice or forcing the band into a dramatic climax.
