Local Valley

Local Valley brings English, Spanish and Swedish into José González’s songwriting. His nylon-string guitar and quiet vocal remain familiar anchors, while loops and more pronounced rhythmic patterns give parts of the album a gently propulsive movement.

“El Invento” opens with questions about existence; “Visions” looks toward possible futures. The changes of language and rhythm make the record broader than the purely acoustic miniature its intimate sound might initially suggest.
