Horizons/East finds Thrice moving between jagged guitar figures and more open, atmospheric passages. The rhythms do not always settle where a listener might expect, giving the songs a restless quality even when the band holds back its full force.

Dustin Kensrue's voice provides a direct point of contact inside those changing arrangements. The record treats uncertainty as something to explore rather than quickly overcome, allowing texture and instrumental interplay to carry part of the argument. Heard as a whole, it reveals a band interested in the spaces around its familiar intensity.
