Phantom Anthem

August Burns Red built Phantom Anthem around intricate guitar parts and a rhythm section that can change direction quickly. “King of Sorrow” opens the album, establishing the close coordination between the instruments around Jake Luhrs' voice.

“Invisible Enemy” and “The Frost” place melody within that forceful setting. Rather than staying at one level of intensity, the arrangements use shifts in rhythm and texture to distinguish the songs, giving the listener details to follow beyond the weight of the guitars and drums.
