Charli
Charli XCX
By Maeve C.
Charli places its guests inside the unstable electronic world Charli XCX developed with A. G. Cook. Christine and the Queens joins “Gone,” while Troye Sivan helps turn “1999” into a brightly nostalgic pop single.
The collaborations do not all move at the same speed. “Official” leaves more room around the vocal, and the closing “2099” returns to distorted, futuristic textures that keep the album from settling into one mood.
