Spirit Of Eden
Talk Talk
By Maeve C.
Spirit of Eden grew from extensive studio performances shaped by Mark Hollis and Tim Friese-Greene. Rather than following a steady pop arrangement, the music lets small instrumental gestures emerge from silence before the ensemble gathers force.
“The Rainbow” and “Desire” show how sharply the record can move between restraint and intensity. Guitar, harmonica, organ and percussion enter as distinct colors, making the spaces around each sound part of the composition.
