Yeah Yeah Yeahs returned after nine years between albums with a more spacious, electronic setting for Karen O's voice. Dave Sitek's production helps the songs build gradually, making room for unease about the world outside as well as the band's familiar physical energy.

“Spitting Off the Edge of the World,” featuring Perfume Genius, opens on an expansive scale. “Burning” pushes more directly towards movement, while quieter passages change the pressure around it. The record's short running order makes those shifts feel deliberate and closely connected.
