Wanderer

Cat Power's Wanderer returns to sparse arrangements after the more electronic setting of Sun. Chan Marshall produced the record herself, keeping piano, guitar and her voice close together. The title reflects a life spent moving, with the songs leaving room for both travel and reflection.

Lana Del Rey joins her on “Woman,” while a cover of Rihanna's “Stay” places a familiar song inside this quieter sound. These moments fit the record's modest scale: the performances draw attention through phrasing and space rather than busy instrumentation.
