The Long Run

The Long Run introduced Timothy B. Schmit to an Eagles studio album and gave him the lead vocal on “I Can't Tell You Why.” The record keeps the group's carefully arranged harmonies while moving between softer songs and a heavier, more compressed rock sound.

“Heartache Tonight” leans on a large communal chorus, while the title track settles into a slower groove. “The Sad Café” closes with a more reflective mood. Those different settings make the album feel like several perspectives on the end of a long run together.
