Ode To Joy

Wilco recorded Ode to Joy at their Chicago Loft with Jeff Tweedy and Tom Schick producing. Acoustic guitars and Glenn Kotche's insistent percussion provide the foundation, leaving the rest of the band to add small disturbances and colours around the songs.

“Love Is Everywhere (Beware)” gives that restrained setting a gently circling guitar figure. Elsewhere, the percussion can feel heavier than the quiet singing suggests. The album's hopeful title does not erase its unease; the arrangements let uncertainty remain audible even when a melody offers a little reassurance.
