Fossora

Björk built Fossora around a set of sounds that includes bass clarinets, layered voices and hard electronic rhythms. The album's title draws on the idea of digging, and its songs repeatedly return to family, memory and the feeling of being rooted in a place.

“Atopos” brings the woodwinds and beats together at the beginning. Later songs change the balance between those elements, allowing the voice to move from close, personal passages into denser arrangements. The record's physical sounds give those changes a strong sense of scale.
