As You Were

Liam Gallagher's first solo album followed the end of Beady Eye, with Greg Kurstin and Dan Grech-Marguerat among the collaborators shaping its sound. As You Were keeps his voice at the front of guitar-led songs rather than surrounding it with an elaborate new persona.

“Wall of Glass” pairs a hard rhythmic drive with a large chorus, while “Chinatown” gives him a more reflective setting. The combination allows the familiar rasp to serve different moods. Short, direct arrangements make the album's return to rock songwriting feel deliberate rather than sprawling.
