Revival
Selena Gomez
By Maeve C.
Selena Gomez's Revival marked her first album for Interscope, with a more restrained vocal approach and a stronger emphasis on rhythm. The production often leaves space around her voice, allowing small changes in phrasing to carry songs that could have been arranged much more densely.
“Good for You” uses that restraint, while “Hands to Myself” balances a quiet delivery against its insistent pulse. “Same Old Love” brings a more emphatic chorus into the sequence. The album's confidence comes partly from those differences in volume and attack, rather than a single uniform pop sound.
